Characters with
a life beyond.

ENGMA — Engine for Generative Media Agents.

The architecture behind persistent characters. Built to give them identity, memory, and the ability to create across mediums.

Explore the architecture
01 / THE IDEA

A character.
A continuum.

A character can be more than a single performance. It can carry a point of view, remember what came before, and evolve through its encounters with the world.

ENGMA is conceived as a continuous character runtime: perceiving context, reasoning through a distinct identity, creating, and remembering. Text, imagery, voice, and music draw from the same character core.

Project Americana is the first application described in the ENGMA architecture: an ensemble of six synthetic personas whose differing perspectives and relationships create an ongoing narrative.

02 / THE ARCHITECTURE

Five layers.
One living system.

Independent layers connect character identity to memory, expression, and action. The architecture is designed to evolve as models and creative formats change.

01

Character core

A consistent point of view.

Character-specific model training and a Behavioral Constitution define values, voice, and identity boundaries.

02

World perception & memory

A history that carries forward.

Relevant world context, episodic memory, and relationship history let characters respond through their own perspective and remember previous encounters.

03

Multimodal expression

Many forms. The same character.

Text, images, voice, and music share a character core, with format-specific generation designed to preserve a recognizable creative identity.

04

Orchestration & review

Continuity with creative direction.

Scheduling, narrative arcs, and quality gates connect generation to publishing. An Autonomy Governor checks identity consistency and coherence before execution.

05

Artifacts & distribution

Ideas that take shape in the world.

The longer-term ambition extends beyond individual posts into sustained works: music, essays, books, and other cultural artifacts, with distribution as part of the system.

03 / BUILT FOR CONTINUITY

Depth grows
with time.

Memory makes a character richer. Relationships give an ensemble tension. Consistency lets an identity travel from one medium to another.

These are the principles at the heart of ENGMA: curated character foundations, accumulated history, and creative systems that build on what came before. The aim is a world that develops through interaction.
